A Cheese-eating surrender French monkey speaks:
'. . . the conflict in the Middle East is a clash of political visions not religious beliefs. He vowed to support those pushing for greater political rights and said bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq will undercut the economic stagnation and despair that fuels extremist ideologies, including al-Qaida terrorism.'
We note with interest that the incoming interim Iraqi government is pushing for said "greater political rights", but its running into resistance from the Americans. Not to mention that a certain war hasn't done much to address "economic stagnation and dispair". It is nevertheless heartening to hear someone finally state that, yes, it's important to address the root causes of terrorism. We never suspected that someone would be President Bush.
