Knight-Ridder names and shames in this listing of a hundred or so articles which addressed intelligence provided by the Iraqi National Congress. The INC's reports are notorious for the role they played in the run-up to war; their "intelligence" reports made it to newspapers around the world and were sent directly to the offices of Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld (according to the accompanying article). I noted the inclusion on that list of a May 2002 article in the Atlantic Monthly by Mark Bowden. I have linked previously to this article in the past as it discussed Hussein's mindset. Unfortunately, I don't know which parts of that article came from the INC and may be heresay. It looks like we, too, were unable to stay free of the INC's faulty intelligence (and this a day after highlighting how important it is to know your sources!), and apologize to our readers for any misinformation they may have gleaned from that article. We'll do our best in the future to avoid such pitfalls.
