'Israeli opposition politicians, intellectuals and former Palestinian ministers have united to propose a peace plan to put an end to years of bloodshed in the region.'

'The plan, a first draft of which was finalised in secrecy in Jordan at the weekend, is being put forward by the authors to prove that there is an alternative to the slaughter of the past three years.'

'Although the Geneva Accords, as the proposals are known, have been rejected by Ariel Sharon's Israeli government, there is hope that they might revitalise the debate in the Middle East.'
