Please excuse our somewhat truculant tone today; we've read a bit too much of the following:
'But, he went on: "To the extent that terrorists are given reason to believe he might, or, if he is not going to, that the opponents might prevail in some way, and they take heart in that, and that leads to more money going into these activities, or that leads to more recruits, or that leads to more encouragement, or that leads to more staying power, obviously that does make our task more difficult."' [Donald Rumsfeld, on the subject of administration critics]
The "opponents" apparently are the opposition voices in the United States. As much as we'd like to help the Bush administration do the right thing in Iraq, we're a bit offput by the assertion that conflicting opinions somehow contribute to American "weakness". Essentially, Rumsfeld is saying "vote for Bush, or the terrorists win" (note his " . . . opponents might prevail in some way . . ." comment). In that case, we at the Node of Evil would officially like to announce that we have ties to Al-Qaeda. Yup, Osama Bin Laden is shacked up in our private residence in the great state of California. Come and get him, boys, and while you're at it you can confiscate all that Democratic Party material we've been secretly reading in between indoctrination sessions with Fox news.
